The blue-hued MISSION TO THE SUPER BLUE MOONPHASE was available between August 1 and August 19, 2024 at selected Swatch points of sale worldwide. Just like the blue moon that inspired it, this model made a fleeting appearance in the Bioceramic MoonSwatch Collection adding a unique mystical charm.

Moon Phase Indicato

As the Moon completes its orbit around Earth, it showcases a series of different shapes known as moon phases. In total, there are eight phases that we observe throughout the lunar cycle. Watches equipped with a moon phase indicator are designed to accurately depict these phases, adding a touch of celestial beauty to timekeeping.

A heartfelt detail

The Bioceramic bezel of MISSION TO THE SUPER BLUE MOONPHASE is unlike the other models in the Bioceramic MoonSwatch Collection. Instead of a tachymeter scale, this blue-hued chronograph features a blue pulsometer scale with white markers.

Originally designed for doctors or nurses and mainly found on sports chronographs or counters, the pulsometer scale allows the wearer to measure their heart rate without having to calculate it.

Inspired by Earth as seen from the Moon

MISSION TO EARTHPHASE was inspired by Earth as seen from the Moon, a mesmerizing view that has been captured in iconic images during various Apollo missions.

Earth phase indicator

Just as we observe the Moon’s phases from Earth, the Earth exhibits phases when viewed from the Moon. Both the Moon and the Earth take approximately 29.5 days to go through all their phases, but in reverse order. This means that, for instance, when we see a full Moon from Earth, an observer on the Moon would see a “new Earth,” and vice versa. This is also why the earth phase on MISSION TO EARTHPHASE turns in the opposite direction to the moon phase.

Special features

MISSION TO EARTHPHASE is the only watch with an earth phase indicator, and the first to feature both earth and moon phases on its dial. Inspired by cosmic beauty, the colorful Earth glows blue under UV light, while two oversized moons shine white in the dark with Super-LumiNova®.

The gray, grainy dial recalls the Moon’s surface, and the battery cover shows the Moon with Neil Armstrong’s footprint. Finished with a black tachymeter bezel and light gray markers, this timepiece perfectly blends innovation, artistry, and the spirit of space exploration.
